What is the significance of the number 25 for A. Lange & Söhne?

If you look closely, you’ll notice that every A. Lange & Söhne watch with an Outsize Date in the catalog or on the brand’s website is shown with the date set to 25.

Explaining this, Arnd Einhorn (A. Lange & Söhne’s Global Director of Communications) shared:
- First, a historical reason. Lange’s “rebirth” watches were unveiled on October 24, 1994, so the date 25 was used to match the publication date for newspapers the following day.

- Second, to avoid confusion with the GMT function. That’s why the displayed date needed to be later than the 24th.

- Third—and the most interesting reason: 25 is visually harmonious and symmetrical; when you turn 25 upside down, it still reads as 25.

That’s A. Lange & Söhne for you—always obsessing over even the smallest detail.
