A. Lange & Sohne Saxonia Automatic "Blue Series" 380.028 18K white gold SAXONIA – A collection named after the town in the state of Saxony, considered the pioneering cradle of Germany’s scientific and technical development. In 1839, Saxony produced the very first locomotive ever to be “Made in Germany.” Only a few years later, a native of the region — Ferdinand Adolph Lange — established a new standard in watchmaking. His mission was to continually improve the design of mechanical movements, refining them toward perfection and laying the foundation for the design philosophy we know today. The models in this collection stand as a testament to his passion and dedication, expressed through a minimalist design language without the need for ornate decorations or elaborate motifs. • The Saxonia collection debuted in 1994 with a solid caseback and a hand-wound movement operating at 3Hz with a 45-hour power reserve. • From 1994 to 2007, pieces in this collection featured compact proportions: a diameter of just 33.9mm and a thickness of 9.1mm. During this era, the outsized date was incorporated into A. Lange & Söhne’s design language. • Starting in late 2007, the brand shifted to a 37mm diameter with a reduced thickness of 7.3mm, aligning with contemporary tastes. The big date display was removed, and several changes were made to the subdial layout and minute track. The A. Lange & Söhne Saxonia automatic 380.028 belongs to the "Blue Series" launched in 2017, alongside the Lange 1 (191.028), Lange 1 Daymatic (320.028), and Saxonia (219.028). • Its 38.5mm diameter, compact 44.5mm lug-to-lug span, and 7.8mm thickness provide exceptional wrist comfort. • The dial is crafted from solid 925 silver, finished in a light navy blue with a matte texture that creates a deeply attractive visual presence. • It is powered by the automatic calibre L086.1, replacing previous Langematik movements and offering an upgraded 72h power reserve. Signature Lange elements- such as the hand-engraved balance cock, German silver plates, and meticulous finishing techniques - remain fully preserved. This is truly one of the most collectible references within the Saxonia family, as Lange rarely incorporates navy-blue dials into its production. For that reason, although released in 2017, this model remains exceptionally scarce on the market even today.
